  2. and Nov 1653 after Pride's Purge of the Long
  3. Parliament to ensure a majority in favour of
  4. trying Charles I. It was dismissed 1653 by
  5. Cromwell, who replaced it with the Barebones
  6. Parliament. Reinstated after the Protectorate
  7. ended 1659 and the full membership of the
  8. Long Parliament restored by Monk 1660, it
  9. dissolved itself shortly afterwards and was
  10. replaced by the Convention Parliament which
  11. brought about the restoration of the
  12. monarchy.
